How does hypnosis work?

Our minds work on two levels - the conscious and the unconscious. We make decisions, think, and act with our conscious mind. The unconscious mind controls our habits. In the relaxed state known as hypnosis, we can communicate directly with the unconscious mind. This can make it possible to unlearn the old habit and estavlish new healthy ones.

Will hypnosis work for me? Generally speaking every normal person is “hypnotizable”. That is, people with an IQ of at least 70, and no severe mental disorders. Therefore, almost anyone can achieve successful results using hypnosis.

How will I know if I am hypnotized? Most people cannot tell when they are hypnotized. You are in hypnotic states every day of your life, while watching TV, driving, daydreaming. Most people feel profoundly relaxed during their hypnosis session. The one thing that people do notice is an inexplicable change in their behaviors afterward.

Is hypnosis safe? Hypnosis is completely safe. During hypnosis, you are aware and in control at every moment and can terminate the session at any time. Hypnosis is not sleep, nor can you get “stuck” in a state of hypnosis. You can’t be made to do something against your will. Hypnosis is a safe, relaxing and enjoyable experience.

How does hypnosis help me to kick my tobacco habit?

My husband Mark has been smoke-free for 3 weeks today, after 35 years of smoking.  The program that Gayle provides has given Mark the help he needed to go along with his desire to quit smoking.  He’s tried many times before to stop, with other aides (gum, patches, etc.) and hypnotically sessions, but nothing has worked this well.  We are so happy with the results this far and know that Gayle will provide support to Mark if it’s needed down the road.

Dear Gayle,
