Overweight? It may be THE SYMPTOM

Rather than the problem itself

You deserve to be healthy, to be happy, and to live in the most attractive expression of yourself that is possible for you!  When you stop to think about it, what would motivate anyone to look or feel less than their best? Yet, how many people do you see each day who look as if they have given up on the idea of even being healthy? 

Most people who come to Positive Change Institute to lose weight know the basics of maintaining good health.  Eat right, have a positive attitude and exercise – right?  So the overweight problem is not usually due to ignorance about health but rather it is about the cycling of motivation as it weaves together with emotional ups and downs, limiting beliefs, hidden fears, old programs with food, etc. 

A Well Kept Secret: Ask most perpetually fit people if it is hard to stay fit. They will often tell you that it is easy for them and that they enjoy doing what it takes to stay fit.  So being fit or overweight or underweight is often a symptom of what is going on at deeper levels of the mental and emotional aspects of yourself. 

Anxiety and stress are major factors. Anxiety causes compulsive behaviors like unhealthy eating, smoking, emotional shopping and even gambling. It also dumbs down thinking processes, interferes with sleep, and "weighs the body down" causing sluggish metabolism.

Stress can cause people to reach out for junk food, sodas, alcohol, etc. in an effort to comfort themselves. Of course the comforting effect is only temporary. Afterward people usually feel even more stressed from the sugar and chemicals in junk foods and from the self criticism associated with falling short of their good intentions.
